No need to press hard or scrub the surface - the oiliness you feel on the surface is normal! Keep them in a safe place. If you want your mats to hold, you must avoid storing them in drawers that are cramped with other kitchen appliances, particularly sharp or hard objects. Do not fold them either, it is best to lay them flat so that they keep their shape, but you can also roll them easily. Never store them, but dry them completely.
